Scott's Last X-Country Meet

Next year's champ!

Scott's first Cross-country meet: a Relay Race his Freshman Year in August of 06

Scott running at State three years and three months later.

Kicking it in.

Scott and Coach McGuire and Devon.

Scott and his good friend Devon, who lives just four houses up the street from us. Scott and Devon started running as Freshman together and have both grown so much in the last four years. They were co-captains of the team this year and have loved pushing each other to excel.
The 2009 AAAA Runners Up

This year's T-Shirts had all the State Qualifiers listed on the back. Very cool.

Lots of Geese hanging out at the Rancho San Rafael Park this year.

Mom and Dad and Dallin enjoyed getting to go to Reno to watch Scott compete in his last Cross Country meet this weekend: the State 2009 Championship which only 4 teams from the South qualified to compete in. His team did very well: Runners Up for all the AAAA Schools in the entire State!

Cross Country has definitely been a major highlight of Scott's High School Years. Although he got sick mid-way through this Senior year season and he has felt frustrated in the last few races, Scott has done some amazing things these last four years. Some of his achievements include: Lettering as a Freshman and every year since; making the All Division Team 2x; Making the All Region Team 3X; Helping his team win Regionals three years in a row; Running at State 3x; Being his team's third finisher out of 7 runners on the team that won State in 2008; Being his team's second finisher on the team that won their Division at Nike Pre-Nationals in Oregon in 2009, beating 24 schools from all over the country; serving as a team captain, and winning lots of Scholar-Athlete awards, etc.

We are very proud of our son and all he has accomplished in these last four years. Thank goodness for Sister Mathews for suggesting he go out for the team!

Cross Country 2009: Region Champs!

Cross-Country was a great experience this year for both Dallin, running as a Freshman, and Scott, running as a Senior. Dallin did very well in his first year, especially in the two Freshman-only races.
Scott was team co-captain this year with his friend Devin. Despite being sick part of the season and missing Divisionals, he got to compete in Oregon and at Regionals this year. Scott made the All Region Team for the third year in a row, even though, having been sick, he didn't have quite as good of a race on this Boulder City Course as he did last year.
The team won the Sunset All-Region Championship for the third time in a row this year! Next week: State in Reno. It will be Scott's third opportunity to compete in State. This year the team will be running as Defending State Champions, with three of their runners returning from last year.

Happy B-Day Scott! / Oregon Nike Pre-Nationals

Right before his Birthday at the end of September, Scott got to go again this year to Nike Pe-Nationals in Oregon where his team WON their division out of over 20 teams. Very exciting.

Fake Homecoming

The Cross-Country Team had a race in Huntington over Homecoming weekend this year, so a bunch of Cross-country runners had a group date at our house a couple of weeks later. They made pizza, played ninja-games, and had a dance in our Family Room. The pictures turned out terrible: clearly we needed a new Camera.

I love my parents!

After I talked to my mom today I got this overwhelming feeling of love for my parents. My parents had their 55th wedding anniversary last month and my Dad turned 78 this month. The kids and I traveled to St. George for the day on Staff Development Day, Oct. 5th to bring Dad his favorite Supreme pizza. We wore party hats and sang 'Happy Birthday' to him and spent a few hours with him and then traveled home. It was great to see them and be with them.
Today I asked my mom what was going on in the family and she went through the list. I know she cares so much about her children and wants everyone to be happy. She is such a great example of a loving mother!

Dallin and Pierce Nitta were teamed up for this race.

Scott and Devon were a team.

Happy Birthday, Chris!

We celebrated Chris' birthday by going out to eat Saturday and visiting his parents. For his actual birthday, Sunday, I fixed his favorite Barbaqued Steak dish. We love you, Chris!!
